The chapel was consecrated on the Feast of Divine Mercy, in the presence of two Catholic bishops and numerous priests. This sacred place, set on the banks of the Danube, impresses with its distinctive architecture—designed by architect Borislav Bogdanov—and its captivating interior. The stained-glass windows weave together traditional Christian images and symbols, using light and form to express themes of compassion, redemption, and unity.
- The chapelThe chapel’s groundbreaking took place in 2010; a year later, it opened its doors to the faithful of all Christian traditions.
Divine Mercy
Created to reflect the message of Divine Mercy, the stained-glass window transforms natural light into a radiant palette of colors that envelops the chapel in an atmosphere of prayer and quiet reflection.
- Blessed Evgeni BosilkovAt the center is the image of Blessed Bishop Evgeni Bosilkov—born in Belene and martyred for his faith in 1952 under the communist regime. His presence in the stained glass honors his spiritual legacy and forges a deep link between the chapel and the history of Catholic witness and self-sacrifice in the city.
