The Church of “Christ the Savior” is located in the port city of Vidin on the Danube River and is part of the Diocese of Nikopol of the Roman Catholic Church. Today, the church combines its historical heritage with a contemporary approach to sacred design, in which architecture and art work together to create a space for prayer, memory, and spiritual experience.
Stoyan Karageorgiev contributed to the design and execution of the stained glass windows, the entrance, mosaics, sculptures, and interior decoration of the church.
- The ChurchEach decorative element of the church was designed to accompany the parish’s renewal in Vidin after decades of silence and helping to restore beauty, dignity, and spiritual continuity to the local Catholic community.

Stained glass windows
The stained glass windows convey rich theological symbolism, depicting the Virgin Mary, the Divine Mercy, saints, and a large cross at the center of the altar. Through light and color, they create an atmosphere of reverence and invite the soul to contemplation.
- The entranceA monumental composition marks the entrance, combining a mosaic of God the Father, a bronze statue of Christ, the Holy Spirit as a dove, and a bronze door.

Entrance door
At the church entrance, a striking bronze door displays images of Bulgarian Catholic martyrs and Angelo Roncalli (later Pope John XXIII), who once served as Apostolic Nuncio to Bulgaria.
- Entrance doorThe other part of the door depicts Pope John Paul II, with the Bulgarian martyrs he himself canonized standing behind him.
